OGIFT's Design Process and Pattern Making 3-Month Course (DPPM) is a comprehensive vocational diploma that develops two of the most essential skill sets in fashion design — the creative design process and the technical pattern making skills that allow design ideas to be realised in production-ready garments. The DPPM course provides 107 hours of structured, faculty-led instruction across three months at the OGIFT campus in Vinayakanagar, Bengaluru. It is one of OGIFT's most popular programmes for students who want a thorough fashion qualification without committing to a full 6-month or 1-year diploma.
The design process component of the DPPM course teaches students the complete methodology of professional fashion design — from initial inspiration and research through concept development, design drawing, collection building, and final presentation. Students learn to read and analyse fashion trends, create mood boards and concept boards, develop a cohesive design brief, sketch garment designs in accurate fashion illustration style, select appropriate fabrics and trims for their designs, and present their creative work in a professional format. The pattern making component covers the complete OGIFT pattern making curriculum: body measurement and ease, basic block construction (bodice, skirt, sleeve), dart manipulation and pattern shaping, kurta, salwar, palazzo, and blouse pattern drafting, western garment patterns, and the principles of grading and alteration for different size ranges. Students integrate both skill sets through a design-to-pattern project that forms the capstone of the programme.
DPPM graduates at OGIFT pursue careers as junior fashion designers, design assistants, pattern room assistants, production executives, and technical designers across Bangalore's fashion industry. The combination of design and technical skills makes DPPM graduates particularly attractive to employers who need staff who can work across the full design-to-production process. OGIFT provides 100% placement support to all DPPM graduates. Admissions for 2026 are open. Contact the admissions team at +91 90369 28799 or admissions@ogiftbangalore.com to enrol.
The DPPM 3-month course includes the full OGIFT pattern making curriculum, which is also taught as standalone 1-month programmes for students who want to develop a specific skill. The Pattern Making Basic course covers foundational block drafting for bodice, skirt, and sleeve. The Advanced Blouse Pattern Making course develops specialist skills in complex blouse and kameez patterns. The Advanced Western Pattern Making course covers trousers, denims, and western silhouettes. The Art of Garment Foundation course builds garment construction knowledge alongside pattern drafting. The Kids Clothing Pattern Making course teaches children's wear patterns from infant to 12-year sizes. Students who also want boutique and retail skills can combine pattern making with the Fashion Designing & Boutique Management course, or take the integrated 3-Month Pattern Making & Boutique Management diploma.
